Tutorials::Text and Text EffectsIntroThis is a tutorial for going over how to add text/text effects to an image. This is what you will be making. Step 1Let's say I want to add text to this banner. First, you click the on the Text tool (The Button with the "T" on it) and then click on the part of the banner where you want your text to go. It doesn't really matter though, because you can always move it afterwards. Then, type the text you want.Step 2Now, the color and the size of the text doesn't look too good on the banner as you can probably tell. Highlight the text, click on the color box at the top, and change it to the color you want it to be.Step 3Click somewhere random so the text isn't highlighted anymore, and see if you like the color you chose. You can always highlight it again and choose a different color.Step 4Highlight the text again and change the size at the top. I'm going to change mine to 72 pt.Step 5Now, click on the move tool (the button with the arrow and a plus sign) to move the text around.Step 6Yay! The text matches the banner now! However, it blends in a little bit too much, if you know what I mean. There are many methods of making the text stand out without changing the color. First, double click on the text layer so a window like this pops up:Step 7Play around with these settings until you get what you want. What I did was add an "Outer Glow".Step 8You can add a few more things and change around the settings a bit, but I'm just going to leave the text like that and add a brush and texture. My Finished Banner
OtherThere is one effect that I always like to use. Make the text gray and set it to the layer mode "Color Dodge" or "Color Burn".
